I updated my profile today to include my new goal of participating in a 5k and finishing in 30 minutes or less. So far, my best time was yesterday at 38 minutes, so I need to shave off those 8 minutes :)
I walked 13.25 miles today towards the challenge and I am looking forward to two new challenges starting soon. I got a late start this morning, or I would have walked more. It was getting hot though, so hubby came to pick me up and get lunch out. I am not looking forward to 100+ degree weather again starting tomorrow.
Now I am enjoying the cool air conditioning at home, then I will work inside the house later after grocery shopping. Going to make meatloaf for dinner and prepare a chicken tator tot dish that hubby can put in the oven tomorrow when I am on my way home from work.
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. :)

Are you doing a running or walkng 5K? I am guessing it is running...
|
Mostly running for the 5k. I did it in intervals on the treadmill at the gym yesterday with my slowest being 4mph (brisk walking) in between jogging at about 6mph. I like to do intervals with about 5 minutes of warm up at a brisk walking pace and then alternate 1-2 min of jogging with 30 sec - 1 min of walking. By the time I get close to the end of a 5k distance, the jogging seems easier.

And I am jogging faster by the end of the 5k distance too, which is nice.

I set aside time for me on Saturday and Sunday morning (when the hubby and I are not out of town) and that is my time to walk and workout. I get up early (like I am going to work) and it starts each day off great. I feel like I have so much more energy and motivation throughout the day when I start with a good workout. :)

I am going to try to get up early next weekend. You have inspired me! 100 degrees in Oct?

Yep, 100 degrees expected until Wed I think... yuck. I still got up early this weekend though and walked before it got too hot. Hydration is very important!!! Carrying extra water on my walks works like weights too. ;) I also plan my routes for the longer walks to have some shade and keep a hat on my head.
