Southern BBQ Beef Sandwich

A zesty barbecue sandwich topped with cream deli coleslaw.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a non-stick skillet, cook the beef, onion and green pepper over medium heat for 4-5 minutes or until meat is no longer pink; drain.
  2. Stir in the ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar and mustard.
  3. Bring to boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 5-7 minutes or until thickened.
  4. Spoon onto roll bottoms; top with coleslaw. Replace roll tops.

At nearly 500 calories, its hard to budget this in to an ~1800 calorie day. One sandwich isn't a lot for dinner.

Yikes...Not SBD friendly until phase 3 and then only rarely. The Ketchup would be the Heinz Low Carb. Deli coleslaw...would have to make your own: cabbage and no sugar added slaw sauce. Brown Sugar could be Splenda sub Brown sugar...The Kaiser roll? In Phase 2 you could have whole grain or 100% whole wheat and best only to have 1/2 of one. There are some great BBQ recipes on the SBD site that would work better/easier :o)

This is supposed to be for SBD Phase I? No Way! You can't have bread, ketchup or sugar!

The carb level is too high for the atkins induction level.

Surely I can't have this on the Atkins diet. Is this for Atkins at another stage or is this for some other diet plan?
