Hi, I am brand new to this site and only found it when I downloaded the FatSecret app for my tablet.

I have been a widow and letting everyone know all about it for 7 years and now I have decided to pull my self up by my boot straps and re-join the Living. I am finally looking forward to reinventing myself. Along with feeling sorry for myself for the past 7 years I have picked up quite a bit of wieght. My daughter and I have sat on the couch and watched the Biggest Loser year after year, proding the contestants on as we munch on whatever sweets or snacks that we had chosen for the evening. NO MORE!! I don't only want to regain my selfworth by losing weight, I want to cultivate a new healthy lifestyle for both of us.

I love that I can search for anything and use this site to preplan meals so that I am not impulsivey grabing anything to eat. I have spent thousands of dollars over the last decade on weight loss schemes and I have finally realized there are no quick fixes, Hunh the Tummy Tuck Belt, I am ashamed to admit I have one. I have been looking for instant gratification because I was afraid I could not stick with a grueling diet. This weight did not appear overnight and it will not disappear without conviction and determination.

I have started a 1400 calorie a day diet and working out with Wii Fit to get moving. My life up till now has been seditary so I am taking baby steps to get moving.

Weighing In
Is it just me or has anyone else in the fatsecret community noticed that every time you weigh in the counter is automatically set for a pound higher than the last weigh in. Question I would think that it would be a pound or even a half pound lighter. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed. Very Happy

Media influence
I experience this every time I drop a pound or so and begin to feel good about myself. Reality sinks in "yeah you look better than you did, but you still are over 200 pounds".

I am planning a trip to Florida in October and truely want to wear a bathing suit, I have not worn one for many years. I want to be lean, but reality tells me that I will be thinner but I have a long way to go. Now, when these feelings hit me I counter them with, Okay I am not there yet but I am not where I was last week or month, I am definitely on my way!!
