Shhhh! It's a Secret
People didn't believe me when I told them. I love food and am working on a cookbook for my family, so maybe that's why? Maybe my refusal to sacrifice delicious food for smaller pants (I can have both thanks) threw them off? Dunno. Maybe when I get to my goal weight they'll believe me? I've stopped telling people.

Hypoglycemia anyone?
I did Atkins for a while. I am hypoglycemic. I worked with my doctor and a nutritionist.
I was told (by my nutritionist and the one on the Atkins site) to start out with around a 100 net carbs and slowly add from there. The 100 Net Carbs are to maintain optimal brain functions.
LOWER CARB DIETS DO WORK WELL FOR PEOPLE WITH HYPOGLYCEMIA in my experience because they help regulate the blood sugar.
Please work closely with a nutritionist (and by that I mean a Registered Dietician) until you have the knowledge to do this yourself.
And a little jelly and a bit of juice won't "blow your diet" but it may save your life =P
Just my thoughts on the matter.
EDIT: I still lost weight while eating 1600-1800 calories and 120 or more net carbs.

Eat as much as I want of... what?
sugar snap peas are mine suggestion too...I eat a huge bag by myself every week...also air popped popcorn with Fresca with extra lime (I feel totally indulgent but it's very few calories).

Low Budget Diet?
I'm surprised at the price difference. Here 2 double cheese, and 2 mcchick would be closer to $10 or 11, and the grilled chicken and yogurt would be $6.50 with a drink (pop, water, white milk, coffee, or tea).
I find eating healthy is cheaper than eating junk. Though I admit to eating a bit of junk too hence my knowledge of McD's prices.
Buy the produce that is in season, get to know your butcher and fish monger, and eat local when possible. Also make a menu using what's in your cupboard and a list of what else you need. If you see an amazing sale on food you like then adjust your menu (or if it is canned goods and your budget permits add it to your cart for later consumption). Also get to know which generic brands are tasty and which convenience items are easy and affordable to make at home.
I feed myself, my fiance, 2 kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat, and 2 hamsters on $600-650 per month and we eat WELL.
