worry more about the fat than the carbs. Either reading could be right, but even so, 3.5 grams carb is nothing-about 12 calories. I use Hellman's light mayonnaise. It's almost free

Calories!
It's definitely important to count calories, but the trick is telling "good calories" from "bad calories." For example, nuts have a lot of fat and calories yet they are still healthy. Calories in fruits are better for you than processed foods, and whole wheat bread is more "costly" but also more wholesome than bleached bread. Even with a lot of calories, the real trick's knowing how your body will use them.

I found webmd.com works pretty well. It's a little like this, but it telld you a few different things (fatsecret is still my preferennce)

Watching my carb intake
careful! This is coming from someone with diabetes whose carb intake has to be kinda stable, but I hope you've consulted someone about this. Carbs are in most foods and aren't particularly "harmful"- just watch your overall caloric intake. 25g carbs per day could deprive our body!

Low Carb at Taco Bell?!?!?
Taco Bell's probably okay. Of course, I'm diabetc so I need an even amount of carbs, but I think when you're dieting you need to watch out for calories more than anything. The break down is that 1g of carb equals 4 calories, 1g of fat equals 9 calories, and 1g of protean equals 4 calories. Know that, and it should be easier to balance your diet. It's probably the best option to have chicken at taco bell. Skip out on the sour cream or go for a lighter sour cream if they have it. Avoid beef, cause it's kinda fatty. Beans will be good for protean, and you should be able to have a tortilla; they're usually low carb, anyway. =D
