Have started doing yoga before bedtime. It has been proven to reduce cortisol levels, which are linked with stress and weight gain. When I do it, I tend to naturally curb the snack monster. But I have also found that w/ a hot bath, I go off to sleep faster, sleep longer/deeper, and wake more refreshed. It's not about chanting weird syllables and twisting your body into a pretzel, but breathing, strength and flexibility. This is also a great defense against degenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's due to the mind/body connection. New research suggests that brain cells can be rejuvenated through exercise, particularly yoga/Tai Chi and Pilates.

It's so easy to run off into the dietary ditch. I know what I need to do; it's just a matter of doing it. More fruit and veggies, less junk. In my defense, we've been redecorating the house and prepping for fall and winter. Houses get messy fast, and it's an eternal state of war. Plus, I just started my second MPH year at Liberty. The instructor is very demanding. I just have to prioritize my food as well as working out.

Well we're off to the Bat Mitzvah this morning. Spent yesterday afternoon creating Jessalyn's gift: a blue Swarovski crystal, fresh water pearl, and turquoise necklace with a silver cartuche featuring the Star of David. It was designed and hand-strung just for her. Hope that she likes it. Trying to stay on the path today. Will be assisting the mom with the reception. Will probably swing by somewhere to have a bite afterward. Will try to confess my sins later!
