History: My name is Sarah and I'm a 26 year old single living in San Francisco. When I graduated high school I was 120 lbs. When I graduated college I was 140 lbs. Now, almost another 4 years later, I'm hovering around 160 lbs. Creeping outside of my healthy BMI has made me realize that this 20 pound gain every four years has got to stop!
Strategy: I'm just going to do basic monitoring of my net calories each day. Since I need a deficit of 3500 calories to lose a pound I'm going to try for a deficit of 500-1000 calories per day which should lead to a loss of 1-2 pounds per week. To achieve this deficit I'll be monitoring my activities and food for the day. I've set my initial RDI at 1600 calories, but I might need to re-evaluate this if my weight loss plateaus.
Goals:
160 - accomplished 12/10/10!
155 - accomplished 2/1/2011!
150 - accomplished 2/21/2011!
145 - accomplished 5/21/2011!
140 -
I don't know how much weight I ultimately want to lose. After hitting 145 pounds I think I'll then have a better idea of how much lower I want to go.
2/1/2011 - In an effort to cut back on processed/chemical foods in my life I am giving up soda. Since I don't drink coffee this leaves tea as my only source of caffeine. Pray for me! ;)
5/21/2011 - After hitting 145 pounds I've moved my goal weight to 140 pounds! Woohoo! Also, I'm staying strong on not drinking soda and reading all the ingredients in something before I put it in my mouth. My latest strategy is to eat 8 oz of food every three hours. Because this has made my stomach smaller, I find this really helps me to not overeat too badly when the chance arises.
