I'm nearly 44 and I've been a dad for four years now, which has been great but it's thrown a big wrench into my ability to exercise.

I love to get out on my road bike and knock off 30-mile rides, but living in Minnesota means I can only do that about eight months of the year. I've gained an extra 15 to 20 pounds in the past few years because of my inability to exercise like I used to, plus my metabolism has (finally) started to slow down.

My goals? To drop my weight from 230 pounds (I'm 6-foot-4) down to at least 215. I plan to increase my water intake, limit my calorie intake to 2,000 per day and avoid eating four hours before sleeping.

I've set up my bike on a resistance trainer in the basement, and I plan to utilize the weight room we have at work and also get out for 45-minute walks during breaks at work.
