Hi, my name is Rachael and I've always struggled with my weight since I was a little kid. I grew up using food to make myself feel better. I am a recovering carb-a-holic and have been cutting my ties with sugar and starches for the past year. I am not really looking to loose a lot of weight, I just want to get fit and healthy, but I also don't want to absolutely deprive myself of the occassional treat... it's impossible and would just make life a little sad to say that you can't have a nice big slice of chocolate cake every once in a while! I'm trying to find balance and I hope that by keeping track of my nutrition and activity, it will motivate me to make better choices for the rest of my life.

Ground Turkey VS Ground Beef
there are actaully a lot of studies that support red meat and heart health, lower choloesterol and blood pressure. But with anything, it's all about moderation! I could never turn down a nice juicy hamburger or steak!

Ground Turkey VS Ground Beef
Turkey burgers always taste funny to me... so I opt for lean beef, granted I don't eat it alot though, because women shouldn't over eat on red meats. As far as cholesterol and sat. fat, your body actually needs these things to function. The sat. fat and cholesterol we get from natural sources such as animal fats are good for us (in moderation). If you body doesn't get enough natural cholesterol, it begins to produce it in the liver, and this is where we get the BAD choloesterol. If we feed our body what it needs, then it won't try to over compensate on its own. There are many myths out there regarding fats and choloesterol, it really pays to do your research but to also come into the mind frame of eating natural things, just as our bodys were designed for. So I wouldn't be too afraid to go with the ground beef if you really just prefer it over the turkey, just don't eat it every night of the week Smile

I've been on 600-1000cal per day for 2 months. Will hCG work for me?
it's VERY dangerous to eat that few calories... your body will go into starvation mode! Your muscle tissue will break down and your body will eat away at itself, leaving fat the LAST resource, so most of the weight lost with be muscle. Not to mention your immune system will be weakened and your cells with oxidize (age) at a more rapid rate. And then, you WILL GAIN ALL of your weight back plus more because your body thinks it is in a period of famine. It takes a species 700 generations in order to change its checmical make up and how it processes foods, so our bodies are still in 'cave man' mode, and our kind would frequently go through periods of famine, where after, our bodies would store as much fat as possible when we did eat food in order to prepare for the next famine. I hope all of this makes sense and you DON'T do the diet... also, the HCG is a load of bs, any diet that takes you down to that little of calories will make you loose weight initially, the HCG has NOTHING to do with it, the government and universities did many studies on HCG and found it to be no more effective than the diet alone and a placebo.

Chipotle? Good or bad?
I love chipotle because I'm very plain with food, I hate combining textures and there, I can just skip all the beans and rice and high calories filling and I can get 3 crispy tacos with chicken and lettuce only, and it's under 400 cals and very filling and I love the simple spices they use. And it's not full of chemicals and hormones and weird things I can't pronounce, so for a quick lunch on my break at work, ti's better than mac d's or anything else! It may sound bland to some people, but then again, its about personal preference, I just love plain food! lol

Be careful with artificial sweetner!!!!!
The studies they did with aspartame on rats would be the equivilent of giving a human two 2 litter bottles of PURE aspartame everyday for a year... those were the kinds of doses that the rats were receiving... now don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of this sweetner either, I stay away from chemicals and also use the natural stuff, but sometimes I do cave and get a diet pepsi every now and then, but for the most part, staying away from any chemical sweetner is better for your health in the long run. Splenda is still a non-natural sweetner and often our bodies respond to it just like sugar, defeating the purpose. And it's still so new that we don't know the long term affects it will have on our bodies. Our liver has a hard time processing these artificial chemicals that are in alot of processed foods. Stevia is the way to go! Get it on iherb.com it's MUCH cheaper there!
