I'm new to this site and haven't figured out how this whole thing works yet. I'm following the Sonoma diet because I am convinced of the health benefits of Mediterranean eating and obviously need to lose some serious weight. I'm less concerned about a time frame. I know this needs to be a lifestyle.

Yes, holiday season is very challenging. Seems everyone is always bring carbage around for us to eat at work. I'm really impressed with your 30 lb weight loss. I'm trying to be more consistent with my exercise. I have a dog which is a motivator.

For cake: The Sonoma diet is basically the Mediterranean diet but designed with weight loss in mind. It has a structure similar to South Beach with Waves instead of Phases. That's a very simplified answer. One of the bennies is that after Wave 1 which lasts the first 10 days, you get to have a glass of wine daily with dinner. Smile

Kerri, I'm new here too and wouldn't mind being your buddy but after reading your profile I'm not sure I would be the best fit for you. I will be 42 on Fri. so we have that in common but it looks like you mostly need to focus on exercise and I need to focus on my eating habits too.

Soups
Hey, I'm new here. Doesn't look there is much going on on this forum. Soups can certainly fit in although like most everything else on this diet, you need to be prepared to make your own. In the cookbook, if you have it, there are several soup recipes.
