Right weight for you body
My mom said "you're losing your black gurl butt". "You're getting too skinny", but that's just the way she grew up. She thinks black women should be chunky. I've learned not to internalize her comments.

Ultimately, it's not the number that counts for me. I am *already* very pleased with the way I look, but I want to lose the fat around my belly (a predictor of diabetes) and stay heart healthy. I'm 5'6 and expect to finish out at 138 lbs. Well within the height / weight / BMI charts. If I strength train, maybe a lil' more since lbs. muscle weighs more than fat.

New study re: Whole Milk vs Fat free
I only did whole milk when my kids were young. I've been on 2% ever since they left home and would never go down to skim. Obviously we shouldn't gorge, but our bodies need good fats. I even use real butter (not margarine), regular fat cheese, pure maple syrup and honey in my foods. GASP! We gotta stick to nature and not all this man made crap. That stuff will kill ya.

I had no ideas my diet was causing so much harm
"Eat a balanced whole foods diet with little or no processed foods". Yep! That's the way to go. For the most part, I'e been eating the same foods I always enjoy (cut out white sugar, white potatoes, chips and white bread), just less of it. Takes more time to lose, but certainly healthier than FADs and makes it easier to keep it off later.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
Every single day; sometimes multiple times! I only "count" the weigh-in (i.e. record that as my official weigh) on Sunday mornings and always after BM, completely naked.

I find weighing everyday helps me know if I've slipped up too much and gives me a chance to correct (perhaps with a run or other calorie burning exercise) before I get to the Sunday weigh in. I'm also really careful about eating right on Friday into Saturday b'cuz I know I'll see it on Sunday if I don't. Great way to not fall off the wagon on the weekend.
