Gaining weight with exercise
It should take less than a month, as long as you're also paying attention to the nutrition. You may need to tweak things to get them just right, but Please Don't Ever Give Up on Yourself!
I don't know much about the program you're on, but I know I don't ever really lose fat unless I"m lifting weights (3x/week, about 30 minutes each) and doing cardio (3x/wk, starting at 15 minutes, and adding a minute each time until I hit 30 minutes, then I go back to 15 minutes, but faster... I try to never ever "work out" for more than 30 minutes). I do have dance parties and go for walks with my five year-old, so it's not like I'm on the couch the rest of the time. I'd love to hear more about what you're doing... as someone else said, the scale doesn't really reflect how healthy we are... I love when the scale says I've gained weight, but I look better in the mirror than before, because it means I've gained fat-burning muscle, and that's all good. Keep us posted.

Who's doing the interval courses on the treadmil
My treadmill has a "custom program setting" which sounds cool, but it is broken into 15 equal segments, so unless I'm only running for 15 minutes, it's hard to do 2/1 min. I have been doing 2 walking, 2 jogging then 2 sprinting, but as I'm typing this, I'm realizing that I could set the 15 minute program as I want and just do it twice. I'm going to try that. Music is definitely a KEY for me. For the sprints, I love the Black Eyed Peas's "Let's Get it Started!" For running outside, I like to listen to iTunes's Increase Your Endurance, which helps you stay on track with intervals without having to look at your watch (3 minute sprints, though).

Introductions
I also reread ABsolutions and one or the other of them suggested eating 10 calories per pound of body weight to lose weight, 12-14 to maintain, and more (I didn't even pay attention to the number) to gain weight. I weigh 145, so I'm going to try to eat 1450 calories per day for now.

Introductions
Hi All,
I'm excited to have found this site. I just reread BFL, after not having really worked out or eaten healthfully for about 5 years. I'm 32 and my goal is to lose 12 pounds of FAT in the next 12 weeks. Right now I'm at 145. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I just want to feel like I'm in good shape, not just a body of jello that's lucky it's not bigger. Anyway, I just started the plan yesterday... I'll keep you posted. I look forward to getting to know everyone. - Mel
