I'm a 50+ yr old mother of five & grandmother of five. I had a very bad fall down stairs and wrecked my back. I have fought this disability thru exercise and was doing fairly well until I was rear ended in May of 2006.
I had knee repaired in Oct of 2010 and had been given steroid shots to help with the damage in my back and knee. BUT, everything has a price and the shots cost 30lbs. So I have to fight doubly hard to rid myself of the lbs cause steroids are fighting to keep them on. But after eight months of blatant submission, I'm fighting back.
And I thank this site for being here and all of you for your support!

Early Evening Snack
Depending on your diet of choice, try yogurt. It satisfies, will hold you over & will help with digestion. Or you can try sugar free jello, again it'll hold you over without killing you.

ketosis
No, you're absolutely correct. The idea is to remove other energy sources from your diet (carbs) forcing the body to burn fat for energy. As you know, the muscle requires protein to replenish itself, that's why this is a High Protein (& fat) diet. Fat will burn fat... But as the body enters Ketosis, it's gets tired, so on Atkins you have to do some form of exercise which helps the body reabsorb protein to replenish muscle fiber. When the weight loss kicks in, you're building muscle which now takes over burning fat. It's a balance exchange. I hope that helps.

Lets just see what's in an Atkins Bar
While I agree that you've done your research and that people may be sensitive to one or all of the products, they are still some of the best around. Research provided by a multitude of labs on protein bars & protein shakes, meal replacements, etc. Blows your research away. While you are entitled to you own opinion, there is no need to get this out of control.
If in fact you take any form of supplement, ie: vitamins - they're not natural & can have severe effects on people that use them. So can strawberries!
Just do what's right for you - REMEMBER - Atkins is a personalized program.
You learn thru trial and error, or do you think you can better it? Then it's called "your" diet, not Atkins. Please respect each other.
