I turned 40 in October and weighed in heavier then I've ever been in my life - not exactly how I wanted to go 'over the hill'. I'm a stepmom to two very picky teenagers which basically means I'm eating the same junk food that they are, just because it's easier. That definitely has to change. Their dad and I have been together for 11 years now, and he often complains about his weight as well, so hopefully I will have a good support system. I am actively involved in animal rescue (I usually prefer my dogs company to most people I know...haha!) and that keeps me pretty busy. Good luck to all my fellow dieters - together I know we can do this!

UPDATE 4/16/2012

Back again....I was doing so well and then life got in the way. I was taking Zumba classes at least twice a week and loving it. I was walking the same. It was so easy and becoming a great habit. Then my work schedule changed and I couldn't attend classes anymore. I spent most of last winter sick and could barely make it through the day. But I'm back and healthy (or at least trying to be). I need to do this for me and I need to keep myself motivated and not expect others to do it for me!

A friend of mine tried it and had migraines and really bad stomach cramps, but I don't believe she was actually 'dieting' with it. I'd steer clear of it!

Motivation for working out
If you have a 'before' picture of yourself, make copies and keep one where you will see it every day, several times a day. Or take a current picture and do the same. This is what I did and it is a good motivator. I do have trouble finding time to fit exercise into my schedule, but when I'm ready to grab the junk food, that picture helps me to remember why I'm doing what I'm doing. Good luck!

I would love to join as well. Definitely need some help since I can't seem to get consistent help with my family/friends. I should be enough motivation for myself, but I'm just NOT!!!! Sad

Any dog loving buddies?
I love walking with my dogs. It's definitely a motivator for me to get out there for myself too. My problem is I can't walk all three of them together (I have labs) and I feel guilty if I take one and not the others. My lab mix has separation anxiety so he has a meltdown if one of the other dogs is gone. He will pace and whine and run from door to door. He's better if someone else is at home, so that is when I will take one of the others. We spend a lot of time outside - we have a 1/4 acre fenced. I've actually started doing laps around my fence line. I'm sure my neighbors think I'm a kook, but it gets my exercise in! LOL!
