I am 39 years old, husband, and father of two children (boy 3 and girl 6). I work in the Information Technology field and have been over-weight since being in foster homes for a year and a half at age 10, emotional strain I suppose. I was able to get it slightly under control in my late 20's, but after my daughter was born it became harder to dedicate time to the gym. Three years after that my company got purchased and moved which in the process we lost the workout gym at work.

I have always had high blood pressure, the weight doesn't help it, but I got it under control with medications that I have been taking for 10 years now...wow. I also had high cholesterol which was a bit better with medication, but two years ago I discovered Elderberry Extract which works better and doesn't have any side-effects. I wish I could say that for the 4 meds that I am on. I don't know much of my family history other then they drank heavily (my biological father and both grandfathers died fairly young) and my grandmother (Mother's side) died of diabetes at the age of 37. I get tested every year and amazingly have tested negative.

Just before finding this site I realized that I was doing less and less of anything outside of work besides playing with the kids. I just sat around and watched television religiously zoning out due to being tired from "working long hours". In reality it was due to the lack of activity and poor health.

Since then my wife and I have started eating more fruits and vegetables. We have also cancelled our satellite service (Everything is on the Internet now anyway!).
