I am a serial dieter and have been both very slim and very large throughout my life. I am following the atkins programme because although I am not diabetic, I seem to have issues with blood sugar and sugary/starchy foods and eating low carb foods evens my moods out fantastically as when I eat high carb I become most irritable and nobody likes it when I am like that, including myself. I ironically feel low in energy eating high carb contents so this is definitely the one for me.
I put on a lot of weight in the past year because of a medication I was taking for bipolar disorder called depakote. It is an annoying fact that nearly all medications fo this particular disorder have the ability to make you gain weight, if only it were the other way around :) and I have subsequently been changing meds in order to combat this which has taken some time indeed and am finally getting back down to my original size. I have found this site so very helpful and motivating so far because I have to answer to myself every day when I enter my foods that I have eaten and it keeps me on track. I have a goal to lose the weight before a holiday I am going on in september. This is special because I have never been on a proper overseas holiday before and I have gone all out with a 5 star holiday to the Dominican Republic and definitely do not want to be all wobbly on the beach for this because I know that I will not enjoy it at all if I am.
