I am a 28 (almost 29) year old graduate student. I'm getting my PhD in clinical psychology and let me tell you, it's hard work to be a graduate student!

I have struggled with my weight most of my life, since I was around 11. I lost 80 pounds when I was 19 and then by the time I was 23 I had gained it back with a vengence. My largest weight was 285 pounds! Then about 4 years ago (a week after my 25th birthday) that I wasn't going to live that way anymore. And I've since lost 100 pounds and am trying to slowly whittle the last 20-25 pounds away.

I spend a lot of my time studying, working out with my classmates, doing research and spending time with my friends, loved ones and my wonderful pets :)

I have a great support system in a couple of friends who are also trying to lose weight and know how difficult it is. I'm glad to have found this website (thanks Heather) because it seems to be very supportive.

Best of luck to everyone!

How tall is everyone???
A healthy weight is based on height, weight and body size/shape. It is not based on heigh and weight only. Someone who weighs 160 and is 5'8" is NOT OBESE.

Be realistic with weight loss goals. can you maintain your weight easily? Are you healthY? what does your doctor say? Do not go by models on TV because let's face it only 5% of the population looks that way.

It's better to ask "what's healthy for me?" rather than "where am I compared to____?" because everyone's body is different, with different body problems/pros etc.

Sorry but Although I've lost 110 pounds I also do weight loss treatment and I worry about people Smile

Weigh in
SBD, I remember that one Smile I started on the SBD 4 years ago. It works, I lost 14 pounds the first two weeks and I weighed myself everyday. Since then I've lost a total of 100 pounds and still weigh myself daily, but I record my weekly and monthly weighs because it seems that the daily ones fluctuate as much as 5 pounds depending on time of day and if you weigh yourself with clothes on or not Laughing. I say it's a good idea to take body measurements too, it's hard sometimes to visually see how well you are doing just based on the number on the scale. Best of luck!
