My name is Mary. I am a 45 year old going on atkins for the 2nd time. I'm an emotional eater. I can lose weight but always gain it back. No one else in my family is like that. I'm the only low carber in the family. Not easy! I want to stop dieting and make a lifestyle change.

Im really determined to finish this no matter how long it takes. I would love to get to the point where I am no longer trying to lose but maintaining. I havent been there in years. So here it goes!

180 - May 15th 2011
170 - June 22th 2011

mini goal: 165 lbs...(go buy your favorite fragrance, you have 20 lbs to go!) - yay! Reached it July 18th!

155 - 10 more gone...10 to go! Im thinking manicures ;)
Done 8/21/11! Bought new jeans today instead of manicure

145 - The ultimate goal! How about a new eliptical to help stay the course? Decision time.... Go on to 135?

Oh and while I have Atkins listed as my diet I do try to follow the general guidelines of low carb WOE. Im not an exact follow it 100% kind of girl! I kinda do what works for me by finding out what doesnt .

Throwing my scale out the window!!!
May not only be your diet. If you think you are following it pretty closely try changing other things. Just shake things up. I have noticed things like if I change my eating times it may increase my weight loss. Not eating to late. Im a routine eater. Same things for many days in a row then on the weekend may go a little over carb count (only healthy carbsSmile) and will lose the next day. Eating most of my carbs through the day not later at night. Excercise increases loss for some people, it slows mine a bit. Dont get in too much of a hurry or stress out about it and change things up once in a while give it a couple days and see what happens. Different things for different people. You will eventually work it out. Good luck!

A low carb awakening!
Yes you are right. Low carb is definitely not for my husband...he cant do the protein. I too am talking only about the people I think it would it would help from personally knowing them. Im just glad people are starting to recognize we are not all the same and low carb is the way for some of us. And I was on the verge of becoming a diabetic and no longer am. My mom on the other hand wont listen about diet and still on diabetes medication. Sure helped me!

A low carb awakening!
I know exactly how you feel. I am so happy to learn that there is so much more support out there for the low carb sugar free diets then when I did it when Atkins first came out. My brother gave me the primal blueprint and paleo diet books. More and more you hear the same thing. Which is why it frustrates me when you see loved ones fighting their health that you know would be so much better with one of these diets and they just blow it off as unhealthy. I just keep on...like you...hoping they will see by my example that it works. My husband didnt even believe me till he went to the doctor with me and they praised me on my blood pressure, sugar and yes LDL and HDL levels. Im 45 getting to the age I have to worry about these levels. So glad Im back on Atkins! And glad also that you have discovered it and teach your beautiful little girl the right way to eat!
