Hello from Fort Worth Texas! I will be 57 on March 27th, 2014 and my friends call me Mardee. At my heaviest I weighed 345 pounds and today although still on my journey I am down to 149 pounds. My goal is 130 pounds or whatever is fit, healthy and natural.

I am a Vegan and I eat a 70% raw diet. I eat virtually all in season Organic fruits and veggies. I can’t afford to be sick and eating a pesticide free diet seems to keep me healthy.

I am a huge advocate for Dr. Joel Fuhrman's Eat to Live eating plan. If there was one book besides the Bible I could make everyone read it would be Dr. Joel's book. The way we think about food today from what we were taught 20-30 years ago is so totally antiquated it's astonishing. The FDA and the RDAs and all the other Government Acronyms are a sad commentary on today's health issues. We need to wake up and educate ourselves to be healthy and fit. Dr. Joel substantiates his entire book with current up to date studies done by reputable sources. He is not paying me to say this! ; )

I shop at Trader Joe’s, and vitacost.com (best site ever, Let me know and we can both get $10 off our next purchase)

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read about me. God bless you and never forget that it is just about making one choice or decision at a time.

P.S. If you want to email me please feel free... It seems like the email with Fatsecret is a bit lacking... mardee.fried@gmail.com Also I live in Fort Worth TX and am always looking for walking buddies or exercise partners.

Hi... New here
Hi Draglist... I too count calories and have been on FS for over 5 years. I have lost 159 pounds since Sept. 2011. I have tried so many ways to lose weight and counting calories is the only way that works for me. I will check out diettruth.org and thanks for sharing... It helps me to keep on keepin on...

Sweeteners...
Since this forum started I have continued to dive into further research and check out some facts regarding the different entries. Eating any sweeteners whether they be liquid, powder, or granulated, should not be ingested. When you do so the glucose goes straight into your blood stream, pancreas, and liver which is not optimal for good health. We should try to introduce sweetness by fruits i.e. dates, prunes and other sweet fruit rather than by either artificial or natural sweeteners. This was an excellent forum Thanks Missy!

Sweeteners...
Dee, I agree about the Cave Man diet... But really it seems that virtually all diets are a take off on someone else's diet. I'm sure that we can all agree that eating fresh food that is nutrient rich is the best way to nourish ourselves.

I knew the government allowed for a margin of error in presenting how many calories, fat, protein, carbs, etc... are in the foods we buy but I didn't know ...
