Well here I am, all 165lbs of me. I think it was the depo shots that really did me in. I quit those a few years ago, but the fat stuck. I can't get rid of it to save my life. It doesn't help that I went from a very physical job to a desk job at about the same time.

I love my job, please don't get me wrong. I work on a cruise ship and love it, but it is a desk job. You would think that I have plenty of time to work out, but you really have to be motivated to do it onboard. I'm away 4 months at a time, and sometimes it's hard to stay healthy out there.

Been married almost 7 years now and have two stepsons, currently 11 and 10. I'm one of the coolest stepmoms out there. I let my kids and my hubby travel with me whenever they can. We all just got back from Europe a few weeks ago.

I join this site on a recommendation from my sister, she got the thin genes, but she also has motivated me to start trying to better myself. She is an inspiration. She just ran her first half marathon and I promised myself that I would run at least a half before I'm 40. I've got about 4 years left.

So here's to good health! And fulfilling a few dreams in the process!

Confused
All you have to do to start is walk. Just walk. You don't have to walk fast or far, just so long as it's consistently for at least 20 minutes. I started Atkins almost a month ago and was moderately active, so I pumped it up a bit, but all I did was go out and walk for 20 minutes a day. Now, a month later, I'm jogging a mile. You can do it! I tell myself, "slow and steady loses the weight". Good luck!

Diet Snobbery- Anyone else notice this?
It's not what you say, it's how you say it.

Diet Snobbery- Anyone else notice this?
I get it. Everyone looks at me as if I'm crazy when I tell them I'm on Atkins because there is still a stigma of eating a pound of bacon every day. I just nod and smile, because I know it's working for me. I've read every book on every diet out there, because it feels like I have tried them all. And all of them give conflicting reports. So I can understand the confusion and perception of "snobbishness" because everyone believes that their diet is the best for everyone. Luckily, everyone is different and different diets work for different body types and shapes and attitudes. Lifestyle changes are different than diets. This site doesn't promote diets. It promotes lifestyle changes, whatever method works for you.

I also thought that there was a place where you can edit current entries, you just put it in the notes that it's been edited or updated.

Natural metabolism booster ?
If your stomach can take it,...hot sauces, peppers, anything with heat. Add a little Tabasco to just about anything...eggs, meat, fish and that should give you enough "oomph" to kick start that metabolism. I try to put a little in my eggs in the morning. Gives it some flavor and gets me going in the morning. Just remember a little goes a long way.
