How accurate is Fatsecret's RDI estimate/calculation?

However, I do not use the Fatsecret RDI for weight loss at all. It's too generous and in my opinion (and that of many others) would not lose weight for most people.
I agree that Fatsecret is too generous. Although I have been losing some weight, I have not been losing as much as I 'should' according to Fatsecret calculations. What I'm going to start to due is overestimate my portions (for example, instead of calculating One cheeseburger, I'll enter 1.25 cheeseburgers). And I'll underestimate my exercise. For example, I will enter "sitting" instead of entering 'deskwork'. And instead of 'shopping' I enter Walking Slowly or even Standing. This should even things out a little...

So what is the difference between RDI and BMR? I'm still a little fuzzy on what these two mean... Thanks for your replies.

How accurate is this site's RDI estimate? Mine has been calculated to about 2100 calories. But other websites state that my BMR is 1800. What is the difference between RDI and BMR? And which is more important to consider when tryng to lose weight?
