Weight Watchers
losing 0.5 lb a week
24 March 2008
3:49 p.m.
I always HATE tracking my food when I fall out of the groove, but once I start doing it again, ironically, there is an aspect of it that is so "freeing". I had a day today of eating too much "junk", which isn't good, BUT...I forced myself to keep tracking the food, every bit of it, and I come to the end of the day (after eating my dinner), and I still stayed within my WW points (and I only consumed around 1300 calories...if I would have been strictly "cal/fat counting", I would have allowed up to 1800 calories to meet my 3 pound a week loss. So...even though I had a poor eating choice day, I stayed within my goals for the day (if I stay away from the cupboards and fridge tonight!) Okay...off to go walking!!! Gotta walk off those 3 Samoa girl scout cookies!!

Weight Watchers
24 March 2008
Well, today was not a good weigh-in, but this gives me all the more incentive to now start 100% back to WeightWatchers and tracking my food daily.
I have been on medication now for 10 days for my thyroid, and it was so refreshing waking up this morning and just "feeling different". Over the last 1-2 days I've been noticing in a change in how I feel. I just don't feel quite as dragged down over my waking hours, and I think my sleep is just starting to feel a bit more refreshed. At church yesterday for the Easter service, I didn't even feel the usual "imbalance" feeling that I've been feeling for the last 4+ years. I don't know if it was "coincidental" or if that issue is also tied into the thyroid dysfunction. This morning I was getting ready for work and just felt a glimpse better than usual...just not as dragging as I normally am (don't get me wrong...I think I could sleep another couple hours, but it was just a different than normal feeling.)
So...today is my day 1 following WeightWatchers and I'm eager and excited to be back on board!!

Weight Watchers
22 March 2008
I started putting on the pounds sometime in high school. I was quite active in high school, playing volleyball, basketball, and softball, but I remember a time in high school where I felt I was slowing down a bit. Because I was active in sports, it likely wasn't that noticeable, but I could tell that was when my extra pounds started coming on. It didn't help that one of my first paying jobs was at the local Dairy Queen, and that is likely where it all started.
Going into college, of course I added on the "freshman 15" x 2, approximately 30 pounds put on throughout the course of living on my own in a city 1-1/2 hours from "home" and now buying my own groceries, which, I admit, was definitely not fruit & veggie filled. At the time, it seemed so great to buy cheap meals of frozen pizzas and pop on sale, but that want right to my hips. I played extracurricular volleyball throughout college, filling in on various teams when they needed extra players, but the extra weight made it hard to get around as quick on the floor and to be jumping at the net.
About 2 years after graduating from college, I met my future spouse and love of my life, Jim. We dated a year, were engaged a year, and then were married, and a year later greeting the arrival of our first child, followed by two more in the years that followed. With each child, I was on bedrest (3 months with the first, 6 weeks with the second, and 6 months with the third), and now adding on to the 30 pounds from college years, I was approximately, at one time just a couple years ago, my highest weight at 242. Since that highest weight, I've lost 13 pounds, but they haven't come off very easily. To add to the difficulty in losing weight, I found out recently that I am hypothyroid. With only one week on the medication, I'm hopeful that I'll be on my way to meeting my weightloss goals. It is my desire to get to 160 pounds and on the road to maintenance by the time I reach 40 in two years. I'm told it is much harder to get the weight off at that age, so it is my realistic goal to get to 160 by June, 2010 (hopefully sooner!)
I've been on SOOOO many diets over the past 10 years, and this time I am going to focus on the WeightWatchers plan. In addition, I have a fitness buddy and we've been meeting at the Y over the last week or two and have also taken a walk outside (living in a snowy state, we hope our outdoor walks will increase as it warms up!) I'm so very happy to have an accountability partner on this journey and can't wait for us to reach our goals!!
