I was born and raised in the mountains of Northeast Tennessee. I work in radio and as of most recently, I began working as a counselor for a weight management clinic. My primary job is to help other people achieve their goals of achieving a healthier weight and lifestyle. I believe in a combination of eating right and exercising to maintain a healthy weight.

My weight struggles began years ago before my teens. I struggled with my weight all my life. In March 2010, I went to a local weight management office and began an HcG transformation program. I underwent four rounds in a nine month period utilizing pharmaceutical grade HcG injections. I went from 410 lbs with a 62" waist to 189 lbs with a 34-36" waist.

mdep1229, don't take what I state out of context. I never said it works for everyone. I have plainly stated previously HcG is not a solution that's right for everyone. The point of me sharing my success is to show that it can and does work.

Sunblock without oil can be used. I was given a list of "acceptable" products to use while doing the program. Any responsible clinic would offer this information to their patients.

Here's a link to the manuscript from Dr. Simeon's research.

That's the problem with lay person making claims: HCG works for me, therefore it will work for everyone. Anecdotal experience does not replace sound medical studies from qualified researchers with no financial and personal interest in the product.

It is one thing to share experience that works for yourself, it is another to push a at best ineffective, at worst dangerous product. And it is down right irresponsible to tell people not to use sunblock lotion considering some of us live in areas with very high incidence of sun cancer.

The oils in most lotions are petroleum based with huge molecules and they simply cannot penetrate the skin. People claiming skin lotions make people fat, or "counteract the hormone" have no basic understanding of human physiology; therefore any other "medical" claims they make cannot be taken seriously.

HCG starvation diet or even death diet
There are some people in situations because of back surgery or other past medical situations that prevent them from being active in the gym. These people sometimes have needs beyond just changing their eating habits.

When these people get desperate, they resort to having gastric bypass surgery. I would much rather see someone go on HcG for several rounds than alter their digestive system.

I now work with people trying to manage their weight. I'm soon going to be working towards getting certified as a personal trainer. I've personally seen 30 people who've done the same program I did that have shed over 100 pounds and 5 people that have come off their insulin pumps. I think it's a great thing regardless of the skepticism. People often shun what they don't completely understand and I challenge everyone in question to do thorough research. It's not a program that's for everyone and it really is intended for people who are severely overweight who have not been successful in other means of managing their weight.

Pardon me, for being skeptical of faceless internet people making broad claims.

But the simple fact of the matter is, as john inadvertently said, to lose weight and keep it off you need to change your lifestyle, eat right, and exercise.

I don't see the need of the hCG since you can obtain the same results without it.

You say it keeps the body from burning muscle and merely focuses on the fat.

Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck... Things that seem too good to be true generally are.

IMHO- Skip the drug, eat right, and exercise. Thats all you need. You're going to NEED to be doing that anyways once you are off the medication, if it indeed worked as stated. Might as well make a healthy lifestyle change from the start and not run the risk of an adverse effect.
The drug sounds like a waste of money and quite possibly your health.

So are you saying that my efforts to protect my pale skin made me fat, NOT the cake, donuts & sitting on my ass all day? This is mind-boggling.

You can use sunscreen before and after HCG... just not during because oils counteract the hormone.

kat, that's exactly what I always want to know. If HCG is this miracle hormone- why can't you eat a reasonable 1200 calorie diet on it and see results? And I've browsed enough hCG boards to know that any time a person doesn't lose weight and starts asking why, everyone pounces on them that they aren't following the protocol *exactly*. So if this hCG is so awesome, why do you have to follow such an extremely restrictive diet to see any loss.

If you don't drop your calories low enough, then your body will not attempt to metabolize body fat. HCG isn't for everyone. It's not a compatible option for everyone, especially if there are other underlying health issues that could interact with the hormone. That's why it's important you have a complete physical and blood panel before before beginning any weight loss program.

That coupled with the ridiculous notion that we can become fat by using oil-based lotion (um, that is absolutely NOT how fat gain works by any stretch of the imagination.)

You're allowed oils before and after being on HCG. The oil simply interacts with and negates the hormone while the treatment is in progress. This is not to imply oil makes us fat.

and I think it's so obvious that this is just a scam.

Don't tell me it's a scam! I lost 192 lbs and 24 inches from my waist in 9 months!

But people are desperate to lose weight at any cost, so I guess they just believe it because they want to?

Some people have no choice but to lose weight for their health. Some people, such as myself, have tried other means. This is much more inexpensive and much safer than gastric bypass or staying heavy and paying to maintain diabetes, high blood pressure, or other health issues related to being overweight.

Or do we really have such a poor understanding of how our bodies work to think that using lotion can affect our weight?

Starving? I didn't get hungry at all... let me explain why. When you are utilizing HCG, the hormone is keeping your body from metabolizing muscle. Instead, your body metabolizes approximately 2,000 calories of stored fat per day in addition to the 500 calories you're eating of mainly thermogenic foods. In essence, it's the equivalent of eating approximately 2,500 calories per day. I didn't get hungry and I never felt weak. This was not "punishment". The only thing more dangerous is not doing anything to change your lifestyle and lose weight.

Stuff like this is so sad. Starving yourself is very dangerous for sooo many reasons. I really can't understand why people can't just realize that you don't need a "magic" cure. The only way to lose weight and keep it off is a lot of hard work and changing your lifestyle.

It makes me so upset to think about the poor people who will try things like this because they are so desperate to lose weight. So sad that anyone could hate themselves enough to inflict this kind of punishment on their bodies Sad

I'd rather be fat and alive and healthy than skinny and dead. It's amazing that there are a lot of people who don't feel that way.
