Hi! I am a 36yo wife and mother of two boys(12 and 7). I am currently doing Atkins and trying to get my husband to do it with me.
I started Atkins in 2003 right after my divorce and lost 13 pounds in one month without exercise and without hunger! I was shocked! I felt incredible and had lots of energy. I had never been that small(smaller than I was in high school). Then, I met my future husband and I went back to my carb eating ways and the weight came back. Ever since then, my resolve hasn't been great and I am truly motivated to lose this "marriage weight" I have gained and to regain that energy!
I know that this time I must look at it as a lifestyle change and be more diligent about incorporating exercise for lasting health!
I love the idea of online support and look forward to partneringwith all of you to reach our goals!!

"golden try"
No problem! I ordered the Extendbars from this website, i will let you know if they are good are not. I always needs a safe snack to keep on hand for an afternoon snack or even after dinner. BTW, your picture is hilarious! Whatever it takes to keep you on track is the most important thing! Also, try lowcarbfriends.com for good examples of menus for the different phases of Atkins...

"golden try"
Has anyone heard of the "golden try" of Atkins. The idea is that your first time trying Atkins you tend to experience faster weight loss and an easier time at the diet. If you restart diet after going off of it, you don't experience the same success and it gets harder to get into ketosis.

Any news on this, i read about it on lowcarbluxury.com

Diet Hopping
I could not agree with you more!! I am SO tired of hearing the negative press from Atkins in various popular diet books...most recently "Skinny Bitch". The two authors of this book were FORMER models without any science background to speak of, just experience with crazy dieting. The section on Atkins in this book is so wrong...Atkins isn't high protein, only low carbs and plenty of fiber if you do it right. I think people are totally misinformed about Atkins and only focus on Induction phase and think this is the whole diet. I am tired of people giving me a hard time about Atkins especially since they don't know the facts. I was so glad to see the recent press about Atkins and all of its benefits related to cholesterol and heart health! I totally agree that you have to read the book and follow it correctly. When you cheat, you are only fooling yourself and no one else. You will just have to wait that much longer to get the body you want and deserve! I did it and it really works!! It totally changed the way my body looked and the weight fell off with no hunger which is the main downfall of many diets out there today.

Keep up the great work!!Very Happy

Hi there! I am new to this site and I really like it so far! Way to go on your success. I am a mother of two and remarried two years ago. Trying to get those "new marriage" pounds (10) off!!

I had great success with Atkins and lost 12 pounds in one month and it came off in all of the right places..never hungry and tons of energy.

Starting over again and trying to gain that motivation all over again.

Good luck to you!Very Happy
