I am 53 years young and live in Portland, Oregon. I have been overweight since I had my last child (I gained 125 lbs. and topped out at 275 lbs.) then quit smoking. I was down to 165 lbs when I stopped smoking, but gained from there. That was 21 years ago. I have been up and down on different diets, given up, tried again, and keep on trying. Although, now I just try to eat healthy. I finally joined a gym the end of 2006, had to take a break (shoulder surgery toward the end of 2007) and then it was hard to get motivated in 2008 (still recovering), but I am going to try harder in 2009. Exercise helps lose weight and firm muscles.

I have a great friend (mi mejor amiga Shelly). We started the Fat Smash in December, took a break for the holidays and are hitting it hard now. Still haven't made it to the gym, still have reservations with my shoulder, but am thinking about it. I still lack some motivation (and time) in that area.

THE CHAT ROOM
Same here in Portland. Although today when I got off work it was 58 degrees and feeling balmy compared to the past few days. Flooding everywhere, the Willamette is up and we have a little creek that runs through Portland call Johnson Creek, it has flooded lots of areas in SE Portland.

First Weigh In
Lost 3 lbs last week. Feel pretty good about that. Looking forward to losing more. Hopefully 12 more by Xmas. We shall see.Rolling Eyes

Day 3
Did well today. Had 1228 calories, a little over limit, but ate healthy. Feeling good about being back on the diet. No exercise yet, but it will come next week.

Going to Start Up Again Soon
Yes, the extreme is a condensed version. I have never tried the Fat Smash Diet, just the extreme. I did lose 17 lbs on it last time in approx 5 weeks. I am the type of person that needs a jump start to keep going. I figure once I get rid of 15 lbs. I can go on the Fat Smash Diet and continue on from there. I just need a little boost. I completed my first day back on the diet yesterday and felt good. No exercise yet, though, shoulder issues, but at least I am back on the diet. Exercise will come soon. I wish everyone luck with any diet they try.

15 Pound Christmas Challenge!
I started the diet again today. I weighed in at 230 this morning. I have done very well today, but it is just the first day. Haven't had my total intake yet, gonna eat beans, broccoli and mashed garlic cauliflower for dinner. Yum Yum Yum!
