I was born in Kentucky and moved to a rural area in indiana at age 11. I was not able to participate in school sports mainly due to no transportation. I did horseback riding and some unstructured running and married at 18 and divorced after 2 kids 7 years later. This is when I joined a gym..influenced by my peers. I stayed relatively fit until my daughter became pregnant...and gained 50 with her!....after my grandchild I took on fitness again, this time more seriously as I stopped smoking, bought a home gym, a bike and healthy cooking cookbooks. With that within a few years was completing and competing in duathlons, endursnce cycling and running. I enjoyed the new me for nearly 8 - 9 years. Then in 2009 I had first of 4 cycling accidents. Last year march's cycling crash resulted in thyroid cancer discovery, surgery and treatment and by January was up to 183#'s as a result of immobility and decreased
metabolism. I began working with Felicia a certified fitness expert and until my resent accident was on the path to fitness. I'm recovering today from fx clavicle I sustained on September 7th.

Does studying count as sitting or desk work?
I agree with ncnole but will add that some yard activities really burn calories, gardening 200-400/hr, mowing 250-350, raking 350....and if youbhave a farm some of the activities will burn up to 550 /hr.
