losing 1.8 lb a week
I'm 62 years old, the mother of three, and a widow. I'm also a new grandmother, and there's nothing more I'd like than to be at a reasonable weight with excellent energy so I can play with that little girl! Except for a few times when I was overweight briefly (for two years in college and then after my three pregnancies), I didn't struggle much with my weight although I'm not sure that I ever felt completely comfortable with the shape of my body. However, starting a year or two before menopause, my weight kept climbing and I could not stop it nor could I lose those pounds after I topped out close to 200 pounds--even if I ate right and exercised daily. A couple of weeks ago, I happened upon a website where people were talking about the great results they were getting with The New Atkins for a New You, and I began to research it and then went out and bought the book. The amazing thing was that I realized that the very first time I had needed to lose weight--when I was in college--I lost 30 pounds in about 3 months doing almost exactly what the New Atkins was now promoting, and this was in 1968, four years before Atkins published his first book! I decided that since it had worked so well for me then, perhaps it could do so again, in spite of the fact that I was now 40+ years older and there were changes in my body chemistry. And so far, in just a little over a week, I've lost four pounds, something I couldn't manage to do--no matter what I tried--for the last ten years. So, I'm ready to keep going... :>)
