I just moved here from Oregon to Colorado springs and just love it! I just turned 40 in January and am concerned that as I grow older it is going to be harder and harder to lose this excess weight. This is why I sought a site such as this. I have found the people here to be a wonderful support and this site a great way tool to keep myself accountable.
My issues started at about 26 years old. I was always pretty fit and thin growing up. However, obesity runs in my family and I have watched countless family members struggle with health issues. I DONOT WANT THAT TO BE ME.....
So I am here.
My favorite thing to do is to go fishing and camping. I love baseball (I was born and raised in Chicago) for the first 25 years of my life before moving to Oregon.
I love to read anything non-fiction and watch little television. If I do it's usually something I can learn from such as the learning channel, science channel etc;...
Love to swim and garden as well

Coffee increases Blood Sugar?
Haven't been to the Harvard website but wouldn't it be safe to assume that many nutrients (vitamins and minerals) are leeched from the body due to the diuretic effect of caffeine consumption? Or are they giving another reason?

Is It Just Me? Is My Idea of "Fat" Distorted Due To The Generation I Was Born Into?
I couldn't agree more. Softening has definitely been my observation. I signed my son up for soccer 5 years back and when the coach told him he had to run lines he decided it was just too much and quit (after almost 300.00 invested (for fees, uiform etc). He was 9 years old for heavens sakes!
Unfortunately teachers have little control anymore. Yet we give them the responsibility to help guide our kids daily. It's not just in the schools though. Even at home kids seem to have a lack of respect and regard for personal achievement consequence. One could say well a big part of it is parenting. Granted that may be true to a degree but I have 4 kids and all of their friends parents have been plagued with the same issues it seems.
If only I could make my kids and grandkids understand that I love them and want the best for them. Aren't we supposed to want our kids to be better than us....and accomplish more? If the only legacy I leave when I am no longer is that I have taught my children and grandchildren to love themselves, never give up,and never settle.... than I have done a remarkable job as a parent, in my opinion. If only my parents would have thought the same way!

Does green tea help you lose weight? how much should you be drinking?
I did the green tea thing for awhile. I loved the energy it gave me and the antioxidant effects. However, for me, I found it to be an extreme diuretic. Meaning,I seemed to feel very dehydrated and had dry mouth constantly.

But like gnat814 stated it is a great supplement to ur diet (in place of other sugary high calorie drinks). if ur body can
tolerate it well then it def won't hurt.
