Hi! I live in Texas, near Dallas-Ft Worth, have diabetes and arthritis, have more than 100 lbs to lose, am married, love dogs, love to cook and try new recipes. I design jewelery using hand made art glass beads and sterling silver. My education is in Medical Technology. I have worked in clinic and hospital labortories for....well I quit counting after 20 yrs-ran out of fingers and toes! LOL! dwhummers: the hummer part is for hummingbirds, jewels of the sky. My favorite dog is the chihuhua, but I like all the furry little beggars! My Dad still says I have never met a stranger. I think the most important part of morning is a hot cup of coffee, out on the patio is possible! Thats a start on me anyway.

Summer B.E.A.C.H. Challenge!
Very Happy If I could give myself more than 5 points for yesterday, I would! I had a job interview downtown Dallas yesterday and like any large downtown area parking is hard to find. Well, I had to park several blocks away, up a steep hill. I walked the several blocks without pausing and without panting! I couldn't have done that a couple of weeks ago! This BEACH challenge had me trying more walking out side my comfort zone (water walking is great for my arthritis) and it has paid off! I got to my interview on time, no sweating, no hard breathing, did a good interview AND then walked back to car after checking out city hall across the street! Still without hurting and without breathing hard! sooooo...

Monday 8/11 4 pts
TUES 8/12 5 pts +++++ Cool

I am happy not having to go "somewhere" today. Between Wed and Saturday last week I have driven about 575 miles, plus 3 inspections and one college graduation! I feel like Alan Jackson's song "I've been everywhere!" , and I never left the state! Laughing

Today is all desk work, writing reports on last weeks inspection visits. Tomorrow I have a job interview in downtown Dallas, I know I will get all my walking in tomorrow as there is very little parking around the federal building I am headed to. gotta to remember to wear comfortable shoes.....

And next week I "get" to go to Austin for the week, again lots of walking. Maybe I better see the chiropractor this week!

I have really keep to my B.E.A.C.H.E.S. for the past 3 weeks but I don't feel I have much to show for it. My exercise is limited by my arthiritis and the city rec center's pool is only having children's swimming lessons in the evening, so my intended water walking didn't happen. So walking without the water is a big challenge to me, well at least walking without it hurting or the hurt lasting the rest of day and evening. I have increased my ability to walk around the building atrium for 15-20 minutes without it hurting but anymore takes a toll on me. My ankles are so swollen right now, don't know what the water gain is from but it been there for 2 weeks!

guess I will get brave and step on the scales tomorrow.... but I don't expect much with the water gain.

hope the rest of my team is doing better than I am.

BLUE LAGOONIE LOONIES: SUMMER B.E.A.C.H. CHALLENGE
Blue Tally

F 8/1 5!
S 8/2 5!
S 8/3 3
M 8/4 4
T 8/5 4

Work has 12 hours of my time everyday this week, ugh!
Traveling out of town for 3 days, wed, thurs, & fri. Saturday I am driving half way across the state (Texas) to see my cousin's daughter graduate from college.
Then next week I finally got an interview for the Federal goverment position I want, I think I want...

The meal plan is no problem, I am still getting at least 15-20 minutes walking in each day, sometimes 2 15 minute sessions.

Water retention??!! my ankles are back to resembling fat donuts! I am drinking 64+ oz of water daily, not hard with the temp over 100 for the last couple of weeks.

Hope everyone is having a good & successful week
