I'm a 37 year old who loves my family & is in love with life. I'm a paralegal working for a local law firm which practices in Estate Planning, Probates, Civil Litigation, Family Law, & Real Estate Transactions & Disputes. I've been blessed with two beautiful children, my daughter, Jade, & my son, Devon. We have a busy life & love to get as much out of it as possible. I am mostly shy but once you get to know me-look out!!! I am loyal, dedicated, hardworking & have an outstanding & somewhat wacky sense of humor. When I tell you "what you see is what you get"...no lies!!! I don't have time for drama or for fakes!!! So with all that being said...the reason I'm here: I've been diagnosed as Pre-diabetic and am going to drop the weight and get healthy for myself as well as for my family. I'm interested in meeting like-minded individuals for support and insight as I make these changes and make a new path for myself in my life.

What is too low for your RDI? Feeling tired and caught a cold.
From all my research and my doctor it is my understanding that we are to never go below 1200 calories a day so as to not lose muscle and also to make sure we do get proper nutrition.

I'm 257 pds and eat 1300 approximately each day. My RDI was supposed to be 2000 according to FS. yes I have been losing weight and eating extremely well. Wink

LOL oh boy kmg do I hear ya on getting that walking and exercise done first. If I sit down I'm screwed!! It's going pretty good...definitely like you wish it were moving faster just for the plain fact that I've been at work since before 7 ;( ready to go home, get my stuff done and then just have dinner with the family and relax. Since no school or homework needs to be done for tomorrow we are gonna sit back and watch a nice family movie. Have a blast this evening!!!

in need of a diet "sage"...
Hello 42in33.

My thoughts are this: firstly it's important you find out why your doctor gave you the diet he did...you need to know what your restrictions are, if any, and the reasons behind it. Was it whim...a test? What? Many medical conditions are affected by our "diet".

Secondly, I'm a firm believer that calories in/out is the most important...then tweak what you need to in order to deal with any restrictions, etc.

I'm pre-diabetic so I'm low carbing but I have to watch my calories. So I up my protein. If you stick to your 3 lil meals a day plus snacks I don't believe it really matters when you eat the biggest meal. Some do so in the morning so they have throughout the day to burn it...some do it in the afternoon so they aren't weight down with it for dinner time and it doesn't collect before bedtime...and for many others it's just not a worry for them. I kinda bounce around on mine...sometimes it's dinner, sometimes lunch. Smile

Lately I swear I’m eating like a lil piglet...takes a while to eat my meal and then it’s snack time and then lunch, etc LOL but I’m never hungry and I’m losing weight. Do your research, find out what works for you best (of course, this is after talking with your diet). Very Happy

As far as anything else, I think it most important to remember that no matter how you approach things that you realize that this is a lifestyle change and not a "diet". Even once your goal is accomplished you will need to maintain it..hence lifestyle change not diet...at least this is how I see it...not sure about the others.

Make your goals reasonable and be flexible so you don't set yourself up for failure...making these changes are hard enough in the first place. Hope this makes sense...I’m a verbal person more than a writer...tend to skip ahead when writing/typing to keep up with my thoughts LMAO And I hope this, along with everyone else’s comments help.
