I don't diet, I eat to achive my goals. Right now I am in the process of adding muscle mass by eating 2800+ calories and working out in my home gym 3 times a week.

My name is Brent. I am 42 years old and live in central Texas. I found out in 2013 that I am pre-diabetic. My doctor told me to cut the carbs and sugar and I didn’t hesitate to listen. So here I am, as of September 20th 2013, living a controlled carb lifestyle and tracking everything I eat here on fatsecret. I try to eat very little sugar and wheat.

Before I eat something I ask myself a simple question. "Am I about to eat nutritious real food, or is this something that is "food-like" which I just want to eat because it tastes good?" If I can’t honestly answer the question with "nutritious real food", then I don’t eat it!

As of October 5th 2013 I am completely off my prescriptions of prilosec, metoprolol and simvastatin. My blood sugar is much better. It’s usually around 100 when fasting now a days. My blood pressure averages around 110/70.

Previous Diet: Ketogenic low carb diet. 7 month duration, 46 pounds lost.

Current diet is now customized for strength training with a little more carbs to feed the hungry muscles.

Goals:
• Fat loss to 10% body fat (or less)
• Gain muscle mass
• Gain strength
• Balanced nutrition
• Optimum health (blood pressure, lab results)
• Blood sugar control

Back to the Gym
@LindaBeau, I have seen the powered stuff I just couldn't bring myself to spend the 8 or 9 dollars. I think it would be really good stuff to put in a protein shake though! Glad you liked it. I might try it now based on your comment. Thanks!

Back to the Gym
Nut butters! I easily ate over 500 calories of natural crunchy peanut butter last night with an apple. I use nut butters to reach my calories a lot of nights. I have the same problem, it's very hard to eat 3000+ calories of clean food.

new to site
Ed, your message gave me chills because I can somewhat relate to how your feeling. I was never obese but I was quite overweight and had the same feelings about my life. I was also feeling run down and tired all the time. I drank too much because it made me feel better. I was taking several prescriptions for various ailments every morning and every night. 8 months later I had lost almost 50lbs and got off all my meds. I give this site a ton of credit for helping me get there. I feel better now than I did 10 years ago. It's the best feeling in the world. You can do it. We are all here for you! Add me as a buddy if you would like. I would be happy to help in any way that I can.

In the Android app is possible to access recipes in My Cookbook?
Mine was kinda fixed with this last update. My app no longer crashes when I click on a recipe item in my food list. However, I still can’t add items from the cookbook to my food list without visiting the website. I am running Android Kit Kat on a Samsung Note 3.
