I am a 38 year old mother is 3. My oldest is 18 and my other 2 children are 4 and 2. I have battled a weight problem all of my life. At one time I was down to 145 but I still felt fat. It took about 10 years but my weight crept back up and reached my highest ever of 250. For several years I held my weight at 250. I gained easily with birth control. I became pregnant with my youngest and only boy and was sick the entire time. At 30 weeks into it I became very ill and had to have an emergency c-section. It was a close call I was in the hospital 2 weeks and my son 10. We both almost died. I have been very depressed over the past 2 years and have treated myself daily with food. When I noticed that my weight was 321 I decided I had to do something. My disabled son is going to need me for years to come and my husband would not be able to do this without me. To take care of my son I have dropped to part time at a job that I love. I am an RN in an emergency room. I worked on an ambulance for 8 yrs prior to the er. I am extremely busy with attempts at trying to give my son the best opportunities for the best quality of life possible. We have several specialist and have 9 therapy sessions a week. At times I get overwhelmed and have anxiety attacks and spells of continuous crying. I have never had these problems before now. I need to do this for my well being and health. I can not keep going like this or have the power and stamina to be the mother wife and nurse that I need to be.

I'm New and started Atkins
I am sure that you are strong willed enough to do it! Just remember the decision to do it or not is just the weight loss battle in your head. I get adkin bars for my weak moments. I also have blue bunny sweet freedom sugar free fudge cycles. Try to keep things in your house for emergency weak moments and remember, drink water, eat every 2-3 hrs and keep the protein up and the carbs down. One thing that I have found with the Atkins diet is that it is to hard for me to keep the carbs under 20 a day. I make my goal under 50-60 a day. I am still losing weight and it is a bit easier. I have gone from 321 to 232 since the first of September with these things I have listed. Good luck and stay strong!

Hey everyone I'm Jessica!
I would say (besides agreeing with mars2kids) remember to keep your protein up. If you don't have enough protein you will crave carbs and food. Its hard to deal with cravings anyway but the body burns protein slower. Also snacks, eat something every 2 1/2 to 3 hours to keep your matabolism burning at its best. If you go to long without eating your metabolism shuts down. Even if its just a tbs of peanyt butter or a protein shake. Not something big, just something. Good luck with your journey.
