I am a 39 year old twice married mom of 3, 2 boys ages 21 and 7, and a daughter who is 18 with cerebral palsy. I work in retail for a well know Pharmacy chain. I have for most part of my life been a little overweight at times. But recently in the past few years I have become slightly obese. I am 5'2" and currently 158 pounds. I have high cholesterol and I am borderline diabetic. I am always on my feet due to my job, but I am a lot slower due to the pain in my feet and joints. I have been dealing with a high stress situation lately, and by dealing with it I mean with comfort foods. In the store I work in, all we have is junk food, or things to offer that are high in carbs. I try hard everyday not to indulge in these bad for me habits, but normally I fail. I am ready to get back in control of my body, my life, and most of all my emotions. I know I am not the only one with food issues, but for the most part I feel alone. Which is why I came to this site, to get ideas to help me cope with stress instead of binging constantly.

Hi everyone
welcome to FS, I have been a member here off and on for about a year. This is an amazing site. Not only does it help me keep track of what I am eating, it is also very inspiring. I know that coming on here and seeing that I am not the only 1 fighting the battle is very motivational. There are a lot of folks here of every age, shape, and size wanting to get fit and it is a great way for me to focus on my personal journey. Reading their stories and what has worked for them and seeing them reach their goals helps me from going off the deep end and eating things I know I shouldn't. I hope you have great success with this site.

Help Please!
along with watching your calories, try watching your carb intake, a lot of people with desk jobs have one thing in common, "Vending Machines" all those little snack jobs are filled to the brim with carbs, whether you pick the crackers seemingly to be the healthiest over the candy bar, it is still carb city. And the diet sodas are still full of carbs as well. Even though you have little time to cook, try taking things like celery with hummus or peanut butter for healthy fats and fiber. I take a few boiled eggs to work everyday along with a yogurt or fruit of choice, but I eat those before noon, as I need for energy to keep going. Meat has low to no carbs as long as it is not lunch meats. I have also cut out refined sugars and bread. MORE WATER IS ALWAYS GOOD! If you can divide your weight by to and that is how many ounces of water you should be drinking, if you don't like plain water, I have found crystal light packets are not bad. Take a break and go for a walk every half hour, or stretch as often as you can.

How much water should I drink? Informative site I want to share.
when you first start drinking the correct amount it will make you have to pee a lot but it's kinda like watering a dessert at first the water will just set on top of the extremely dry land and cause puddles, it will take time for it to actually absorb into the ground just like our bodies will gradually use the water for what it needs, Food digestion for example, and causing the life to come back to your skin, LADIES Especially...it will help rehydrate!

Actually I think the normal equation is to take your body weight and divide that number by 2 than that number ends up being the number you are supposed to consume in ounces to keep your body hydrated, however to lose weight you need to increase that amount also.
