Welcome to myFS. I am fairly new here and very good at losing weight- if I do say so myself.
I am even more proficient at gaining it back.
Having mastered my prediabetic blood sugar to within two points of normal, I decided 2011 was the year I would conquer my high-ish cholesterol by becoming a fat free vegan! All the healthy hipster blogs said you could get your cholesterol down in 3 weeks but I committed to three months because I am an over-achiever and my doctor would be so impressed with my healthy lifestyle choices. Surely this was the solution to EVERYTHING.
Three months of veggies and whole grains later, I had lost eight pounds, was having kidney discomfort and an assortment of sinus and other infections elsewhere. My cholesterol was up 30 points, my blood pressure was high and my blood sugar went up to the highest it has ever been. If you are a fat-free vegan I mean no offense but ... YIKES!
Since May, doing low carb and lots of walking,I've lost twenty pounds and my blood pressure is within normal range. It is sort of helping my blood sugar when I stick with Atkins' Induction's 20g carbs but I know many fat secrets to wreck any diet (chocolate) so some days are better than others.
Love FS and keeping a food diary really helps (and yes, I did actually eat 5690 calories on September 2. It was not a good day.)
