A little encouragment: What I can do now:

Congrats to all of you on your fitness accomplishments! You are all so inspirational!

My accomplishments are still a little on the earlier/simpler/easier side now that I've lost 25 lbs. Here's what I discovered as mini accomplishments on my recent 2-week family vacation:

1. I could fasten the seatbelt on the plane with about 6-7" of slack to spare. A year ago I went on a flight and almost needed a belt extender.

2. I took work out clothes and a resistance band with me on the trip. I only used the band once in a hotel room, but worked out 5 other times on hotel/cruise ship fitness centers. Exercise was never even a THOUGHT in the back of my head on previous vacations.

3. I walked a LOT and climbed a LOT of stairs on this trip. I never felt winded. I even chose a cruise excursion involving rowing a canoe for an hour which I would have never done in the past when a physical activity would have not been appealing to me while on vacation.

4. I made better food choices overall. Nowhere near perfect, but I found myself choosing a lot of lean protein, lots of vegetables, and about 1/4 of the refined carbs that I would have eaten in previous vacations.

5. I wore 2 new, smaller sized dresses on this trip and felt beautiful in them.

While none of the above are major accomplishments, in total they really demonstrated to me the changes I've made in my body and in my mindset over the past 6 months. It felt great to not feel sluggish, sugar-loaded and bloated on a vacation. I'm excited to keep making progress and can't wait to feel even better when we go to Hawaii next year for our 20th anniversary.

I think those are all MAJOR accomplishments and you should be proud of each and every one!

Congratulations on your first 5K. Please don't focus on your time, focus on the accomplishment. While I have been running 5K's off and on throughout my life, I finally got serious about my speed and distance. I just completed my first 1/2 marathon in May under 2 hours. It is all a process.

Keep up the good work and continue running those 5K's.

Calling all Moms!
eKatherine is right. Every person and pregnancy is different. Try not to focus on the weight that you will gain during the pregnancy. Just continue to eat healthy, exercise at a level approved by your doctor, and drink A LOT of water (this will help with retaining fluid). Following these guidelines should make it easier to get back to your pre pregnancy weight. Good luck and Congratulations.
