I'm a wife and mother of a one-year old. I have two jobs and work about 60 hours per week. I needed to find some "me time" because I was getting really down about the way I felt about myself.

Direction, PLEASE!!
Nayomi - My trainer started me out doing 3 reps of 20 on all my weights. For free weights he mostly put me on 8-pounders, I use 10lbs for a free weight bench press and 5lbs for the side lateral raises. For weight machines he kept me at 30lbs for all (both leg & arm machines) except for leg press which he has me at 160lbs. Also, he said if you do a 10-15min cardio warm up, then do your weights, then finish with another 20-30mins of cardio the muscles that were stimulated during your weights help burn more calories.
Obviously everyone has a different fitness level, but I hadn't been to the gym in a LONG time (like 7 years) and those are the weights he started me with. My recommendation is to start somewhere around there, and if by the 2nd or 3rd set of 20 you feel like it's too tough, drop down to the next lower weight and try to work up to the 30lbs or 8lbs - whichever you're doing.
