I have done Atkins off and on since I was 18. I love this diet and have lost many pounds while on it but I am an emotional eater and somehow the pounds always end up finding me! I restarted my low carb eating on March 4th 2013 and I think I am emotionally at a place in my life that I can finally be successful for the long haul :)

It is taking longer to take the weight off but I feel so much better that I can't complain. I am at losing and that is the important thing. I try not to weigh too often but I like measuring myself cause the inches keep going down while the scale changes daily. On March 4th I weighed in at 225 and I am now at 213 and I have lost 10 inches all over so overall I am pleased with my progress....which is very important for emotional eaters...lol

I have tried many different weight loss programs and had little success. Low carb is the only plan I have been on that works for me. It helps my cholesterol and blood pressure and just a better overall feeling of well being. :)

Hi Kim and welcome to Atkins! It is an awesome way of eating that makes you feel better and crave less. Some tips or suggestions I would make are: don't be surprised if you feel a little sluggish in the first 7-10 days because you are "coming off the carbs" and it is like an addiction....for me carbs are an addiction! Another thing is EAT, print out the induction list and carry it everywhere! I know a lot of times when I first start a diet I am all eager and energetic and try to be super strict but the thing with Atkins is that you only have to be strict about one thing...CARBS.

After you get through the first week or so you are going to notice that you don't have cravings anymore....you may have "wantings" but the cravings will be gone and you feel full all the time when you are eating right. I really have to work to get up to my 1500 calories/20 net carbs a day.

One other little bit of advice is be prepared...I don't know your life situation but if you work or go to school plan your meals and carry a lunch bucket if you have too but there is nothing worse then getting hungry out in the real world and having nothing legal to eat! Been there done that and it wasn't pretty...lol

Your weight is going to melt away and you are going to be so much happier. Think of this as a way of life and not a diet that has a start and a finished but move through the phases until this is all you know. I am so excited for your journey to begin you are going to love it!
