After seeing myself in a bikini, I decided it might just be time to lose the weight that I have been carrying around. Plus I can't wear most of my "sexy clothes" when I go out with my husband. :(

January 2015
I have always hard time with my weight. At my heaviest, I was 220 pounds. At 5'6" I was FAT! I have been as low as 169 but am back up to 190ish. It is time for me to actually reach my goal of 145. I'm planning to do it slow and easy by eating healthier and watching what I eat with some exercise mixed in. I know that in the last few weeks (the helladays) I have felt like crap because I have been eating poorly. Time to feel good. I deserve it.

What does cinnamon do for ya? I heard eating more food early in the day with cayenne pepper helps increase the metabolism. Not sure if that works or just makes things hotter come and going.

Alleged helps with blood sugar control and weight loss. I call BS. I drank cinnamon hot water with a little honey everyday for several months. I believe I gained weight. lol

Week One - DG
for me, it is about that and thinking, "Is that one snack gonna pack it on?" I know realistically it won't but it sure seems like it!

I need some help...
I don't plan my meals. I really can't because hubby does the cooking for dinner most nights. And he makes such ohsodelicious stuff. I have to get up and leave the table when I have eaten enough or I will sit and continue to eat.

I have started eating almonds for breakfast. Ten seems to do the trick with tons of water. Then for lunch I was eating dinty moore or other micro meals that had about 300 calories. I have discovered whole wheat tortillas with some cheese. I micro it for about a minute to melt the cheese and put on fresh herbs (basil, cilantro, chives, whatever I have) and roll it up. Really quite filling and YUMMY! Sometimes I will even add pregrilled veggies.

So find something that fits your dietary needs and your cravings and enjoy. My roll ups have enough variety that I don't get bored.

Reminder about vegetables

This is how I cook brussels sprouts. I used to hate them, but when I make these I can't stop eating them.

It's tempting to skimp on the olive oil, but don't do that at this point. Screw the calories-- this is an exercise in learning how to cook them properly and to enjoy them when they're cooked well.

If you want a really simple way to cook asparagus, start with pencil asparagus. Take about a dozen stalks and put it into a ziploc bag, then add maybe a teaspoon of water. Don't seal the bag, or it will explode. Microwave it for about 45 seconds, then let it cool for a minute or so or the steam will burn you. Put it on a plate and drizzle it with a little bit of high-quality balsamic vinegar.

that is similar to how i cook my brussel sprouts... i add tons of garlic powder and some garlic cloves and i use butter... i love when they get that burnt crispy outside and soft melting inside.. mmmmm
