I'm a 54 year old grandmother and mother who used to think I was naturally slim. When I moved north and started commuting 2 hrs each way, I started doing something I'd never done, eat in the car. Add that to the fact that I no longer had time to bike or walk anywhere, and the pounds just started to accumulate. I didn't feel any different, but when I tried to do a few things that I used to do, I found I didn't have the stamina any more. My daughter and I started walking for 1/2 an hour every evening and did that for a couple of months, but I didn't lose a single pound. Now I have a job close to home and more time to be active, but I have a husband who is on his feet all day and just wants to sit when he gets home. Add to that the fact that I no longer swim, bike, ski etc regularly, and now we snowmobile, boat and motorcycle, all very sedentary activities. I'm a big believer in use it or lose it, so I am trying to get back in shape and back to a healthy body weight.
