Been overweight on and off for most of my life, but not by much. NOW I am overweight by "much". Want to get back into a healthy way of eating. Since I recently found out I am glucose and fructose intolerant, Atkins is the way of eating I need to follow. Huge benefit that most of the foods I cannot eat, are not on the plan.

I have a lot of weight to lose, and I am not finding Atkins limiting. I started the plan third week of January, 2013

Buddy me just to chat, and encouragement for both of us. I do not post to forums here, but I do on the Atkins site.

How do I get more protein?
Good for you on the Paleo diet. I haven't had any seriously bad carbs (pasta, bread, etc) since December. Had a craving for pizza, so I made the cauliflower crust pizza last night. Very yummy.
I like Atkins a lot, but I may have to look at Paleo diet after I have reached goal. On another site//forum a guy that regularly posts states he is on Paleo now, after reaching goal. He likes the plan very much.
Oh, did you know Dr. Oz had a short segment on Paleo last week? Might be worth watching....
Cool

Have you looked into the Paleo diet? If you are looking for a high protein diet, that may be the WOE for you. Bread and pasta are not good carbs, in my opinion. The only good carbs you get are from veggies. I am following Atkins since January, and have lost quite a bit of weight.

a swedish study on 48000 women over 15 years who were on low carb diets showed much higher incidences of heart attack and stroke.

Man evolved to eat a wide variety of food stuffs from all the food groups i doubt many cavemen spent their mornings peeing on ketostix.
eat healthy food from all groups dont eat more than you burn off

and exercise regularly

if it were that simple, and we humans did not indulge in cravings and emotional eating, everyone would be healthy, and this site would not exist.Very Happy
