I am a 47 year old woman, married the man of my dreams August 8th, 2006.
I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. When I was 17 I did "Weight Watchers" and reached my goal of 136lbs. And that was the last time I saw that weight. At my age I know I'll never weigh that again, I'd have to starve myself, and I've learned not to do that anymore (it only caused me to binge eat and gain back more weight than I'd lost. The last time I was close to my goal weight was 1996 at 156lbs. But, I went up (and down) from 198 down to around 169 (back in 2003). But after being put on "paxil" three years ago I'd gained about 40lbs. Two years ago I weighed about 217lbs. I took off 22lbs. all on my own!! I just started eating a healthy breakfast to start, then continued with healthy meals and snacks. I also swam and walked. But now I've stopped losing so I heard about "YOU: On a Diet", so I thought I'd give it a try. I've only just gotten the book (Tuesday) and considering it's the Easter Weekend, I think I'm doing OK. We'll see!

Sugar Substitutes
I switched to Stevia about 6 months ago and notice a huge difference. The main reason for the switch was that I was getting headaches!! I researched and thought I'd stop with the artificial sweetner - just to see!! Well, it worked....Stevia is very sweet, you use very little and at first I noticed the licorice taste. But now I'm quite accustomed to it and enjoy it. I don't really use alot, daily in my coffee and on my mixed berries. The biggest difference....no more headaches!!! And that alone has made it worthwhileWink Give it a try - I think you'll find it's worth the changeSmile

Depression
I too have suffered from depression for over 4 years now. Alot of things led up to my seeking advice from my doctor and going on med's. My husband and I moved from my hometown 2 years ago and it helped me alot!! Now I've weaned off the meds, "paxil" was a tough one to quit ... I don't envy anyone out there having to do the same! I do understand you though ... the night sweats, nightmares, mood swings, headaches, body aches, etc. were horrible. I read alot on withdrawal from paxil, and got advice from my doctor but let me tell you - that is one medication I will never take again!! It worked wonderful while I was on it - but the withdrawal is frightening! It took more than 8 weeks to be rid of all the side effects. I stopped in March and only now do I feel (normal).
Don't kid yourself, I still feel depressed (some days more than others), but in a world full of stress it's tough not to be depressed now and again. I'm learning how to deal with it without med's. It has been an up and down battle. So, I understand what everyone is dealing with.
I am going to start walking again and I'm still eating healthy. Although, I think I'm going to really watch my portions. I haven't lost anything, but my husband has lost 10lbs. So, I'm thinking, since I've been a "Weight Watcher" before, I'm going back, this Wednesday!! And I'm going to incorporae "YOAD" into the program. They're both very similar.....so here it goes.
I have to tell you, most days my depression stems from my weight .... I hate what I look like (and feel like) .... especially now that the warm weather has arrrived. I am so tired of "weight" being all I seem to think about ... upon waking in the morning and the last thing I think about at night!!!
So, along with all of you, today I started back on track again!!! Here's hoping this time IS different!
Good luck to all .... have a great daySmile
