Hi all, coming up on 50 I felt it was time to make a change. Goal is to drop 100 lbs, so I'm back within healthy guidelines. First time in past 15 years.

Taking an agressive approach to get results fast, but plan mentally to stick with the diet for 8 months. Joined the Ideal Protein plan but I tend to use their foods as supplements to eating healthy meals.

Gained back all 20 lbs I had lost on Atkins! NOW WHAT?
I'm thinking what you've proven is your addiction to sugar. Atkins might be better for you because it squeezes out all the bad sugar. On WW, you are more likely to have sugar, and relapse. It takes many tries to quit bad habits, like smoking etc.

DON'T give up.

CALORIE COUNTERS VS. PORTION WATCHERS? OR BOTH?
For me, when I don't count calories I stop losing weight. In last week I gained a pound. I thought I continued to eat healthy and same portion sizes but obviously not. Now I'm back to rigid counting.

low calorie shopping list
Adding to Katherine's comment
I usually buy big bags of mixed frozen veggies from Costco. While not 'fresh', they taste great and are quick to prepare, and help fill you up. Too often my fresh veggies went bad before I ate them (big $ waste)

I've also been buying Tofu and making stir-fry with it and veggies.

Are you eating eggs? Very flexible food with so many ways to prepare.

Conversions
Yea, the recipe feature is fantastic. When I made a big pot of chili, it was so easy to add in the cans of beans plus other ingredients.

When done cooking, I measured it into separatete Tupperwarere dishes for storage, using a measuring cup. With a real count on the total volume, it was simple to set the servings size to one cup and have the correct nutrition info.
