I am a 34 yr old student, mom, & wife. I have began some new things in my life some I have chose to do on my own the others I don't have a choice. My choice is going back to school, my don't have a choice is that I'm having to change the way I eat & the way I live my life. I am from the South and while I love where I come from it is not the healthiest lifestyle. I was raised to be a southern cook but that southern cooking is biting me in the butt. I am too young to have the issues I am having. My blood pressure is going up and down, my cholestrol is up, and my weight well, lets just I'm not pleased to say the least. If I am like this at 34 I am scared to think of what I'm going to being like at 68. So I have changed how I eat and add exercise and I hope my changes pay off. They have some because within the last few I have lost 23lbs. It's not my ultimate goal but it's a start!

1st mini goal: 199lbs, 06-12-2011
1st major goal: 175lbs, 10-10-2011
2nd mini goal: 160lbs
Final major goal: Still undecided:)

Wow what can I say? It's been a long, hard but awesome journey!!! Instead changing my first bio entry I am just going to keep it as a reminder of where I started. Since March of this year I have lost a whopping 83lbs! I have never lost this much weight and it is taking some getting use to but I am loving it more every day. To anyone who reads this and is where I started, believe that you can do this as well because me, a past yo-yo dieter, can actually achieve this anyone can! I still have bad days but the good days are the ones that are more frequent now. I'm still not sure exactly where I want to stop officially and begin just maintaining. I am going to take that in strides and go with how I feel about myself. I know where my doctor wants me but this is also about me being happy with me and that is something very importatnt that I have had to learn.

I need some ideas please.
I am doing really good at losing weight but what I can't seem to get rid of is the flab! I just got a home gym added in my house so I hope that works but I am wondering if anyone has any ideas of their own that worked. My main area is my belly. I know I probably won't ever have a wash board stomach, and I'm ok with that, but I do want it to flatten out and tone up more than what it is. The second area that needs work is what I call my bat wings. You know the area under your arms that waves when you wave Laughing I still have a good bit more weight to go so to the ones who have lost weight, will this go down as I lose more weight or is there something that I can do to work on this? I look forward to any suggestions that might work.

Food allergies, especially onion
How about a shallot? Would that be too much for him? If not that might be a suggestion because to me they are not as strong but with his allergies it might. Hope you find something that you can useSmile

New around here
Thanks for the replies! With the changes that I have made personally and the help with the calorie counter I feel like I am on the right path. I have to say that I love some of the recipes on here but the only thing is on some of them, it's hard to tell what the serving size.

New around here
I just began this a few days ago and I wanted to ask anyone who has been here a while if the calorie counter is really that accurate. I hope it is because I have started something new and positive for myself and this helps make things a little easier to keep up with.

Thanks!!!
