I am 64 years young. A self employed accountant, I have been running my own business for the past 25 years, my practice is focused on wealth management and tax planning for owners of small to medium business in the Greater Toronto area. I spend most of my day in front of a computer, or travelling to Toronto and back to my home in Burlington. When I was 51 I was diagnosed with cardiovascular disease, which effects the veins throughout my body. I cannot jog, run or walk for any significant distance without having to stop, sit down and rest. But I have adapted as we all do. In 2012 I went on this high protein, low carb diet and lost 50 lbs. Since last Labour Day and put back 32 of it. I felt awful. So on Jan 1 I joined this site for structure and support. I find that if I do not plan and log all my foods, I go astray.

Goat Cheese Pizza with Red Pepper & Spinach
A favorite for pizza (cheat) night. Cheat because sodium and carb level are a bit high, but we all desire a weekly cheat night.

Low Carb Diets
Check out website Diet Doctor, tons of recipes, meal plans, videos and articles all focused on low carb high fat. I am just finishing week 1 of a two week challenge. I hope that by the time the 2 weeks are up I will have broken the "carb addiction". If I lose some weight in the process that's good too.

Comfort eating
Calories seem right (plain is 100, flavoured between 150 -220). Be careful, carbs are very high compared to fat and protein, sodium also high. Better off to find a high protein and high (good) fat snack, that will make you feel satisfied for a longer time. Have you tried Quest Protein Bars? Very high protein and only 5 net carbs compared to 25 in instant oatmeal. Just a thought...
