I am 36 years old and have had a weight problem all my life. I have tried quick fixes but they never work. I have tried diet after diet, now I am just trying to eat right, stuff the dieting. I am happy to have this website to help me. Right now I am disabled due to a severe mental illness, but hopefully soon I will be able to carry on again and work like I want to. I worked for a year between April 2009 and June 2010, so i do have work experience. I love to paint, do mosaics, and make beaded jewelry. I also do a lot of bible study and consider this my absolute strength in life. I feel strong. If I make a go of it, it will take me places. Thanks.

Snack Ideas for traveling
Good choice. If you take the hundred calorie packs, you know exactly what you are taking in calorically, so there really is no guess work. Hope you have a great trip!

Snack Ideas for traveling
I'd say go with the 100 calorie packs of nuts, String cheese, and if you can stomach it (not many people can) a little bit of beef jerky. All three have exceptional protein benefits, and eating one between meals will keep you from wanting more food during the long trip. And if you can, take a few crunchy carrots and maybe a couple apples with you. If you'd like, cut the apples up into bite size pieces. For me, I find the only carrots I like to eat are the shredded carrots, almost like tiny carrot sticks. I like these better than even eating baby carrots. But it's all in what you prefer. Oh, and about the beef jerky, get one that is flavored with pepper and seasonings, not the teriyaki or bbq or honey, those have a lot of sugar in them.

Help!!!!
Thanks everyone for all the encouragement. I am really addicted to food. I tell people they shouldn't smoke cuz it is bad for them, but what am I doing? Killing myself with preservatives. Someone said to me the other day that apples are God's version of candy. I like apples, but HARDLY ever eat them. I am on a med right now that gives me a very bad taste in my mouth. Sometimes I wonder if it would give me that bad taste if I was eating apples instead of donuts, or carrots instead of potato chips. I like healthy food, I just can't get around the junk food. Today I was mulling it over and over in my mind to use the last of my money to get take-out. I have already eaten like five things of junk food today in SUCH a mechanical way. I have decided not to though. Instead I am going to take a LITTLE bit of money, walk (yes, walk) to the store and get more bubblegum. I chew Extra which is sugar free, and believe me, sometimes I CANNOT get enough of it. I think I am going to get myself addicted to bubblegum instead of food. Thanks again everyone, you have made my day.

Help!!!!
Hello,
I am having a real tough time right now. For the last few months I have done nothing but eat, eat, and eat some more. I haven't lost any weight but I've gained ten pounds. I am ashamed of myself. I have never met anyone who has lost as much weight as I have to lose and kept it off. If there is such a soul that has done just that on here, please become my friend. I am in such need of encouragement.
