Hi Everyone!

In my 20's I was up and down the scale from 180-220. Spent years over 300 pounds terrified. I want to live a long and happy life. Like most people, I am a good person who works hard at her career. I want marriage and children. I know I need to be healthy to raise a healthy family. but it is a daily struggle and true battle.

It's more than weight; it is education. Body physiology education! Pancreatic reactions to sugar! Wow that was fascinating to learn about and a bit shocking when I think back to all the sugar I unknowingly put in my body. Wow, no wonder! A friend of mine made it look so easy over this past year.....slow and steady determination she said. So, this is the beginning of a change overall for me. I wake up everyday facing myself, not ignoring it, even if the scale goes up.

I'm so motivated by the other's on this site as well. It's good to be part of a community of like minds and like goals. It's my daily retreat and honest encouragement.

Before the Holidays of 2014 I was committed to Atkins because I had lost a lot of weight before on it, then I gained it all back. I just kept telling myself it works, it works just refocus....but it wasn't working anymore for some reason. I think now it's because Atkins reintroduces Carbs way too soon before the body can heal its insulin resistance. I had to find another way. I researched all over the internet, starting ready studies by leading Biochemists around the world on Obesity and learned a lot about Ketogenic diets...Low Carb/High Fat. I knew it was what I needed to cut my sugar cravings and consistently lose weight. It was hard but I started a new year with a new diet and new inner resolve.

Ketosis question
Yeah...I agree tresmemphis...Patty, check your KETO sticks to see if you are in ketosis. Looks like your macros may need to be adjusted a bit by adding a bit more fat from what I see. Avocado or coconut oil in a smoothie may be helpful to jolt the body.

Help needed with RDI
You might need to focus on your MACROS instead, ratio of fats, carbs and proteins. Unless you are very active, research says that excess weight gained/stored in the fat cells is often due to an over consumption of carbs and the full fat cells are the "spill-over". Might be worth recalculating your fat to carb intake and make sure the carbs you do eat are slow digesting and unprocessed. I have learned that I am very carb sensitive so I am now keeping my carbs below 20% of my daily total. Calories are just a guide in my book. good luck!

5:2 Doet
I have been testing IF out for awhile. Started off with a 7 day water fast then went to 5:2. But that halted the weight loss so I tweaked around with different daily fasting windows instead of the weekly window on 5:2. Every week since the holidays I have been adjusting the window by 2 hours: 12 hours...14....16...18. I am now up to a daily 24 hour fasting window. Hard as heck-fire but I like the results. I think I will take the window down a bit if it gets to be too hard mentally. But no hunger thank goodness. I can totally see that once I get down to my final goal, 5:2 IF will be how I maintain.
