Hey there,
I'm Sammi. I'm 19 years old, and married to my wonderful husband, Rob, who is 30.
I currently weigh around 300lbs (over 21stone) and I am having problems with my back and hips because of it. I've always had joint problems, even since I was in primary school - but the extra weight is making it worse.
As a child, my parent's didn't force me to eat my vegetables, and let me eat chocolate all the time. Now that I'm an adult, and I'm thinking about starting my own family, I want to lose weight to cope throughout my pregnancy and raising my child.
I smoke around 20 rollies a day, which leaves me short of breath, so exercise is hard (the pain I get in my back is also difficult.
I can managed to walk for about 20 minutes before I need to sit down - not because I'm out of breath, but because my back tightens up and I start to limp. I can stand for around 10 minutes (so washing up takes all day!) And I can take a single binbag out to the bins (just around the corner) and then I'm in agony and have to sit down for at least half an hour. I struggle with housework, and as my husband is in a wheelchair when we leave the house, and walks with a stick at home, he cannot help much with the housework either! I originally hurt my back by lifting my husband over the side of the bath into the shower, and I received physio for that. Up until Summer 2013 I was working as a tutor, and I would be on my feet for up to 6 hours at a time with no difficulty. Then I hurt my back, and couldn't work. I then started suffering with depression and was signed off work until October, when I quit in order to be home with my husband.
My aim is to lose 1/3 of my body weight within the next year or so (please tell me if you think that is reasonable - or if i should aim to lose more/less!) and to fit into a size 14-16 (UK).
Any advice would be really appreciated - I'm an open book and happy to talk about anything!
Hope to hear from some of you soon!!
Sammi xo
