Sugars (Good or Bad)
While fruits are healthier than added sugars, some fruits are better for weight loss than others. Berries, for example, are better than bananas. For some people, it's better to eat more veggies and keep your fruits to a minimum. I would say it depends on what other health issues you might have and how much weight you need to lose. I would do some research and learn more about the Glycemic Index and glycemic load of various foods.

Starting all over
Like Terri TCat said, don't fall into the shame game! No one is perfect, and we're allowed to start over any time we want. It's important to forgive yourself for a slip up and move on.

I have often gotten off track in spite of all my good intentions. For me, who has never had much self-discipline, it's a daily challenge and almost like a full-time job to stay motivated and make healthy choices instead of giving in to lifetime bad habits. Things that help me greatly are to read something inspirational or motivating every day, to journal regularly (even if not listing what I'm eating) and to make and frequently look at a list of all the reasons I want to lose weight.

Weight
While it's normal to weight more at night than when you first get up, in addition to the gain due to what you eat and drink, some people (like me) also have a tendency to retain fluid. Because I have heart issues, I tend to retain fluid in my legs, feet and ankles. This has improved somewhat lately due to a recent loss of 10 lbs., but I still have to watch it and try to keep my sodium low.

what to do when you don't like to cook, and really don't know how
We sound a lot alike. I was just lecturing myself on how I must start eating better and planning ahead. It seems I go from one activity to another and don't have time to eat then go through a drive-through on my way home. I'm a sugar addict and have still not been able to give up Diet Coke. I don't have a new hip, but I need one and can't have the surgery. And I think I may also be experiencing a rotator cuff problem (would like to know more about yours and what the symptoms are).

I cannot really exercise much, but if I can change my thoughts to more positive ones and start eating better, I think I have a good chance of at least losing some weight. And even if I don't lose much weight, I'm sure to at least start feeling better. Maybe if you buddy up with someone, you'd stand a better chance of sticking to it this time.

Sometimes you have to stop and think...
So true and well said. I don't think a lot of people realize how important mind set is in the weight loss battle!
