"There is no good time to start a diet!" I started my diet yesterday against all the advice of my family. They are currently in Thanksgiving mode and the refrigerators are filled to the brim with sweets and fried food. My thinking is, instead of gaining 5-10 pounds over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, I will lose weight instead. I am starting college again in 8 days and I am honestly embarrassed to be around all these young kids in the best shape of their lives. Getting older for me is like frying bacon in the nude...You know it is going to hurt but don't know when or where ;). I'm tired of getting worn out so easily and my joints hurting from all this excess weight. Phase 1 is a nightmare because I love pastas, potatoes, and everything I cannot have on this Phase, but I know it will be worth it. My goal is to change my life from being "Live to Eat" to "Eat to Live." Yesterday I lost 8 pounds, but I know (or at least I believe) that most of it is water weight. A pleasant surprise this morning either way for sure! To everyone out there struggling to stick with it I will say "You CAN do it! Don't do it for someone else. Do it for yourself and be proud of yourself for it. Do NOT let the people around you drag you down. Don't wait for a good time, because there is never a good time." Take care and happy holidays!

So it Begins (Again...)
I am trying to do this in a completely different way than any other past attempts. Don't get me wrong, I have dieted in the past and have had great success, but the journey usually ends with injury, depression, and an ending weight higher than before the diet started. I am approaching this diet as a lifestyle change this time. Not only am I making this a lifestyle change, but I am also making this my lifestyle... I am immersing myself in this diet because I have seen what happens to people that are overweight and I do not want to be that person anymore. I have been out of the Marines Corps for 8 months now and besides a solid start of weight loss spurned by exercise (finished by injury), I have done little to better myself since I have gotten out. I'm taking it slow this time and concentrating on doing it right. The base of my diet is South Beach, but in reality, I am primarily going to follow a strict Phase 1 of the diet, while starting Plexus Slim for energy, and putting together a solid work out program that I can accomplish alone. I have been looking for a good workout partner since I have been home, but have not been able to find one. So this time, it's on me. No excuses and no quitting. The rest of my life depends on it. I do not expect any results from Plexus Slim, but have seen promising results from some of my friends that are taking it. As far as exercise goes, I plan on working twice a day 4-5 days a week starting out. My exercise starting out will consist of 45 minutes of low impact cardio and resistance training with weights (primarily cable exercises). I am not happy with what I have become and absolutely must make a change. Don't know what to expect from this site, but I am hopeful.
