I am 5'9" and usually wear heels to work, so I tower around 6' or 6'1" most of the time. I LOVE my height not only because it makes me feel graceful, but also because I have historically been able to eat more without gaining as much weight (or without looking like I've gained weight).
Between a recent promotion at work and my ongoing graduate thesis paper, I have put on about 10 lbs over the past year. I've noticed the weight gain in my face and my butt/hips. The turning point for me has been seeing myself in pictures and hating the way I look. I was always known as photogenic, and I shy away from cameras now.
I consider myself very active: I ran my first full marathon in February 2009 and have run 6 half-marathons in the past few years. I'm training for another full marathon in October 2014. In the past year, I've incorporated yoga, pilates, and tai chi to my training regime. When I was training for a half marathon in early 2013, I really noticed the difference in my body when I started doing yoga, so I'm excited to get back into the swing of yoga!
I gave up eating meat last year, so that has also been somewhat of a challenge for me. I don't miss meat at all, and although I do my best to eat lots of veggies, I fear that I have been eating too many carbs and dairy.
I'm heading to a wedding in London this August, and I'd love to be down at least 10 lbs before I leave!
